Classical Ballet

Modern Jazz
Modern Jazz dance is a lively and expressive dance style that blends elements of classical jazz with contemporary movement. It focuses on rhythm, musicality, and dynamic performance, often incorporating sharp lines, isolations, and fluid transitions. Dancers use strong technique and high energy to convey emotion and tell stories through movement.
Tap
Tap dance is a rhythmic dance style where dancers create sounds using metal plates on their shoes. It focuses on timing, musicality, and intricate footwork to produce percussive patterns. Tap can be performed to various music styles and is both a visual and auditory art form.
Commercial Street
Commercial Street dance is a high-energy, expressive style often seen in music videos, concerts, and pop performances. It blends elements of hip-hop, jazz, and street styles with a strong focus on performance and attitude. Dancers use sharp movements, bold expressions, and dynamic choreography to engage and entertain audiences.
theatre Dance
Theatre dance is a performance-based style that combines elements of drama, dance, and stage technique. It focuses on storytelling through expressive movement, character work, and theatrical presentation. Dancers often learn skills such as stage direction, projection, and using props or costumes to enhance their performance.
Acro Dance
Acro dance is a style that combines classical dance technique with acrobatic movements. It focuses on strength, flexibility, balance, and control, blending tumbling skills seamlessly into choreography. Dancers perform tricks such as backbends, handstands, and aerials while maintaining graceful lines and musicality
How do Classes Work?
How do classes work?
At the Academy of Dance, we have an open door policy.
All Classes have a set time structure, where our qualified teachers, encourage fun and friendships to grow through dance education, promoting independence and self confidence.
What equipment will I need?
The Academy of Dance has different uniform and footwear requirements, for the different styles of dance provided.
If you are new to the classes, we ask for your child to attend in comfortable clothes and suitable footwear they can move freely and safely in.
Correct uniforms and footwear will be required if your child is continuing classes as these will be needed for performances and examinations.
Can I try different Classes first?
Certainly, here at The Academy of Dance we encourage that your child comes and tries different classes to see which ones would suit them best.
The Academy of Dance offers a variety of classes there is something for everyone.
Can My Child Do Multiple Styles?
Yes your child can do multiple styles of dance with us, this from our perspective helps the child grow and develop a better understanding and appreciation for dance as an art form.

Elite training, pre-vocational and professional training is available, for individuals who are looking to pursue training at a third level dance institution, vocational level or a professional performance career in the dance world.
Dance teacher training is provided for students who wish to pursue a career in Dance Teaching.
Professional Dance examinations are undertaken under the IDTA – (The International Dance Teachers Association)
The IDTA is an award winning organisation recognised by Ofqual to offer qualifications in the Qualification and Credit Framework.
The Academy of Dance is a member of UNESCO Conseil International De La Danse.
